The military departments of Russia and Uzbekistan have developed a program of strategic partnership between the two countries in the military field for 2021-2025. This was announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during his visit to Uzbekistan. The implementation of the program, Shoigu said on April 28 at the talks with the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Kurbanov in Bukhara “will make the interaction more systemic, bring it to a level corresponding to the spirit of our special relations.”

Sergei Shoigu noted that the priorities of military cooperation are joint exercises and training. “Our states successfully interact in many areas, including the security sector. Today it is important to jointly confront challenges and threats, especially international terrorism, ”Shoigu said. He thanked his colleague for organizing the meeting in Bukhara: “My old dream to visit Bukhara – the pearl of Central Asia and an open-air historical museum has come true.”

The Russian minister donated archival documents to Uzbekistan on the contribution of the Uzbek people to the victory over Germany in 1941-1945. “I brought as a gift a selection of archival documents on the contribution of the Uzbek people to the common Victory,” Shoigu said.
