Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian freestyle athlete Anastasia Tatalina on her victory at the Big Air World Championship in Aspen, USA. The corresponding telegram was published by the Kremlin press service on Wednesday, March 17
“Congratulations on your triumph. You did a great job at the World Freestyle Championships in Aspen and won gold in Big Air. This success is your great personal victory and a significant contribution to the continuation of the best traditions of the national sport of the highest achievements, ”the president said.
The head of state wished the athlete to achieve new impressive results.
The competition took place the day before. In the final, the athlete scored 184.50 points. Silver was taken by another Russian freestyler – Lana Prusakova (165.50 points).
For the Russian team, Tatalina’s gold was the first in the world championships in this discipline.
Aspen hosts the Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Big Air World Championships. According to the decision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Russian athletes at the tournament play under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee.
On March 9, Russian freestyle athlete Anastasia Smirnova brought the first ever gold medal at the World Freestyle and Snowboard Championship in Alma-Ata in a double mogul. She passed her compatriot Victoria Lazarenko, who took second place. Bronze went to Anastasia Gorodko from Kazakhstan.
