On April 23, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage showing a US Air Force fighter approaching Russia’s borders.
Russian radars were able to detect an air target, after which the MiG-31 was raised into the sky. The fighter escorted the target over the Pacific Ocean and waited for the plane to turn around.
The Pacific Fleet stressed that the flight of the Russian fighter was carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace, writes Gazeta.ru.
Foreign military aircraft often appear at the borders of Russia. So, in the current month, several similar cases were reported. In particular, on April 19, a Russian MiG-31 fighter “intercepted” US and Norwegian patrol aircraft over the Barents Sea.
