The Portuguese National Medicines and Health Products Administration (Infarmed) has decided to suspend the use of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine. This was reported on March 15 by Publico.
This decision was made after two cases of adverse reactions to the drug.
Earlier on Monday, it became known that the advisory committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) is investigating evidence of blood clots in those vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
On the same day, it was reported that vaccination with AstraZeneca was suspended in Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Spain, Indonesia, Slovenia, and Cyprus. The authorities of these states made a similar decision, guided by precautionary measures.
On March 12, vaccination with AstraZeneca was suspended in several Spanish regions; on March 11, Denmark, as well as the authorities of Norway and Iceland, made a similar decision. The authorities of Estonia advised to refuse vaccination with the drug for people prone to thrombosis.
Meanwhile, the company AstraZeneca announced the safety of the drug against the background of the suspension of its use in some countries.
