The Pennsylvania Court of Appeals sided with incumbent US President Donald Trump and upheld a lawsuit challenging the legality of the counting of votes in the election of the head of state.
As reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer on Nov. 12, the dispute concerned voters who did not verify their identity. State law requires voters to verify their authenticity within six days of the election, which is November 9th.
However, Secretary of State Katie Primer extended that deadline until November 12. According to the ruling of Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt, the official had no authority to do so.
Nevertheless, the publication called this judicial victory of Trump insignificant, since we are talking about a small number of ballots that were not included in the official count, while Democrat Joe Biden is ahead of the American leader by 54 thousand votes.
On November 10, it became known that Donald Trump intends to file a lawsuit in a Michigan court demanding not to confirm the voting results in the presidential elections in the state.
According to media reports, the lawsuit alleges that Republican observers were excluded from the counting of mailed ballots in Wayne County, home of Detroit’s largest city.
The US presidential election was held on November 3. Biden has already declared himself the winner, but Trump has refused to admit defeat. The American electoral system assumes that the candidate with the most votes will not necessarily be the winner. The head of state will eventually be elected by members of the electoral college, consisting of 538 people representing their states.
