Ella Pamfilova, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission, thanked the previous composition of the CEC, noting that thanks to the work done, the electoral system in the country is open and convenient. She stated this at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, April 26.

“I would like to take advantage of this meeting and express my gratitude, gratitude to my colleagues, the past composition of the CEC – for the tremendous work that has been done. As a result, we now have a really very dynamically developing electoral system, open, transparent, accessible, convenient for our voters, which is very responsive to the needs of society, ”she said.

The head of state joined in the words of gratitude.

According to Pamfilova, Russians’ confidence in the elections themselves and in the electoral system has significantly increased. She expressed the opinion that it is necessary to work every day to justify this trust.

Pamfilova also noted that the CEC of Russia does not have any problems, including financial ones, in preparation for the September elections. According to her, several options for holding the elections have already been prepared.

“Depending on the pandemic, a whole range of other factors, we will have to make a decision: one will be voting day or it will be three voting days. In accordance with this, we must now and we take into account: PPE (personal protective equipment – ed.) There must be a number of other factors, ”explained the head of the CEC.

In addition, during the meeting, Pamfilova informed the president about attempts to interfere with the vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation last summer. In particular, she noted that pressure was exerted on members of election commissions to “leave their membership”.

At the end of March, Putin said that it is crucial for the country and its sovereignty that the election results reflect the true will of the citizens. The President also expressed confidence that the professionalism of the CEC will allow the federal election campaign to be carried out at a decent level.

On March 29, Pamfilova was re-elected as the chairman of the CEC of Russia for another five years. Nikolai Bulaev was re-elected as Deputy Chairman.

A single voting day is set in Russia for September 19, 2021. At the same time, elections to the State Duma of the VIII convocation will be held.
