Russian actor, director and screenwriter Ivan Okhlobystin turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to help actor Mikhail Efremov, who will be sentenced on September 8 in the case of an accident that killed the courier Sergei Zakharov. Okhlobystin published an appeal on the page in the social network “VKontakte”.
In his message, the artist did not question Efremov’s guilt, but asked the head of state to pardon the artist.
“Spare him with your personal decree, he will not survive in prison. He is weak, he is crushed, he has no reputation and no future. He is his own judgment, ”the director wrote. According to him, at present, Efremov “does not pose a danger to society.”
He added that he decided on a public appeal because otherwise he would hardly have been able to convey the request to the president, reports the NSN.
“Stay in my memory as Vladimir the Merciful,” Okhlobystin asked.
An accident involving Mikhail Efremov happened on June 8 on Smolenskaya Square in Moscow, according to the TV channel “360”. His SUV at high speed flew into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the Lada van. The driver of the domestic car, courier Sergei Zakharov, died from his injuries in the hospital the next morning. The examination found that at the time of the accident, Efremov was drunk, and traces of drugs were found in his body.
A criminal case was initiated on the fact of the incident. On September 3, the state prosecutor asked the actor to be sentenced to 11 years in prison in a general regime penal colony. At the same time, Efremov himself admitted his guilt in the accident. The artist’s defense asked the court to issue “any” verdict that would not be associated with the artist’s deprivation of freedom.
On the eve of the lawyer, the representative of the injured party in the case of a fatal accident involving Efremov, Alexander Dobrovinsky, said that it was necessary to wait for the court hearing and not to make premature predictions about the punishment that might await the artist, the Zvezda TV channel reported.
On September 3, the prosecution requested 11 years in a general regime colony for Efremov in the case of an accident. The verdict in the case will be announced on September 8.
