Non-alcoholic beer, despite the absence of alcohol, has a high glycemic index, so abuse of it can cause the development of type 2 diabetes. On Friday, August 7, the nutritionist Elena Solomatina told about this in an interview with “Evening Moscow”.

“This drink is not recommended for people with chronic heart disease, blood vessels, diabetics, children, pregnant and lactating women,” said Solomatina.

Besides diabetes, drinking beer can also contribute to the formation of atherosclerotic plaques in the body, she said.

Solomatina recommended replacing beer with lemon water or not very sweet kvass.

On July 27, it was reported that during the coronavirus pandemic, Russians began to actively consume whiskey, rum, tequila, as well as bitters. Sales of spirits in Russia in April – June 2020 increased by 22% compared to the same period last year.
