North Macedonia registers Russian Sputnik V vaccine

North Macedonia has registered Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. This was announced on Sunday, March 7, at the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

As specified, the registration of the drug was carried out as part of an emergency use authorization (EUA).

The head of RDIF, Kirill Dmitriev, noted that the demand for the Russian vaccine is growing in Europe and around the world.

“RDIF has created a wide network of international vaccine partnerships, and North Macedonia’s joining it will save many lives in the country during the pandemic,” Dmitriev said.

On the eve of the Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko discussed with the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus consideration of the application for approval of “Sputnik V” for use in emergency situations.

Sputnik V is the first coronavirus vaccine in Russia and the world. She was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health in August 2020.

To date, the vaccine has already been registered in more than 45 countries, including it is allowed to be used in the EU countries – Hungary and Slovakia. The drug is one of the three world vaccines against coronavirus in terms of the number of approvals received by government regulators.
