Navalny is transferred from the colony to the hospital for convicts

The press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) in the Vladimir region on Monday, April 19, reported that blogger Alexei Navalny, who is serving a sentence in correctional colony No. 2, is being transferred to the regional hospital for convicts.

It is noted that at the moment the blogger’s state of health is assessed as satisfactory and he undergoes a daily examination by a therapist. With his consent, Navalny is being given vitamin therapy.

The decision to transfer the blogger to the hospital, according to the department, was made by a commission of doctors of the medical and sanitary unit 33 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

On the same day, the department told Izvestia that doctors regularly conduct examinations and clinical and laboratory studies of the blogger’s analyzes. The interlocutor clarified that Navalny was visited by civilian specialists, including a therapist, neurosurgeon, neurologist, nutritionist and psychiatrist.

In addition, he underwent MRI, ultrasound, ECG, and electroneuromyography of the lower extremities, as he complained of numbness in his legs. Based on the results of the studies, the blogger, with his consent, was prescribed a course of droppers with glucose, proteins, ascorbic acid, vitamins B1, B6 and B12.

Since March 31, the convict went on a hunger strike demanding that an independent doctor be allowed to visit him. On April 5, it became known that Navalny was transferred to a medical unit. Then the regional FPS reported that he had signs of a respiratory disease, in particular a high temperature.

The next day, information appeared that Navalny’s coronavirus test did not show that he had an infection. He also showed signs of tuberculosis.

On April 9, a post was published on social networks, which shows how the blogger performs physical exercises in the medical unit, where he was transferred.

Navalny’s suspended sentence in the Yves Rocher case was canceled by the Simonovsky Court of Moscow on February 2. He was replaced by 3.5 years in a general regime colony. The decision was made due to the blogger’s numerous violations of the probationary period. At the same time, in fact, he will spend 2.5 years in the colony.
