Moscow became the most popular city for traveling on the May holidays in 2021, according to the analysts of the travel planning service OneTwoTrip.
32.7% of air tickets were bought to the capital, and the average cost of a flight was 5100 rubles, the service noted.
In second place is St. Petersburg, which will receive 11.1% of tourists. At the same time, a flight to St. Petersburg will cost about 5700 rubles. Sochi closes the top three with a share of 5.8%. A ticket to the most popular southern resort in Russia costs an average of 6,400 rubles, analysts have found.
The top 10 main destinations for the May holidays also include Krasnodar, Simferopol, Mineralnye Vody, Makhachkala, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Kaliningrad.
This year, the average duration of a trip in Russia is 5.5 days, which is a day more than in 2019 – then the Russians went on a trip on average for 4.5 days, the experts of the tour operator noted.
13% of travelers will go on vacation with children. The average cost of an air ticket in Russia was 5800 rubles one way per person.
Earlier, on April 27, it was reported that Russian Railways, following the demand, is increasing the number of trains for the May holidays. Additional flights will be launched from St. Petersburg to Anapa, Bryansk, Kazan, Kirov, Novorossiysk and Yaroslavl.
Instead of 500 additional long-distance trains, which were planned to be launched from April 27 to May 12, almost 600 trains were assigned, and in the near future this number is planned to be increased by more than 60.
