Plans to build up the US military presence in Poland strike a blow at the NATO-Russia Founding Act. This was announced on Friday, August 7, by the Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Zaitsev.

“We believe that the plans to build up the American military presence in Poland deal a serious blow to one of the key provisions of the Russia-NATO Founding Act of 1997, according to which the alliance refused to carry out additional permanent deployment of“ substantial combat forces ”on the territory of member states, – quoted by Zaitsev by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The ministry stressed that the increase in the concentration of the US Armed Forces or the reconfiguration of the military presence on the so-called “Russia-NATO contact line” does not contribute to strengthening security in Europe, but stimulates tension.

“The desire of some countries to ensure their own security at the expense of Russia is absolutely futile. A stake on such a policy will only complicate the already difficult situation in the military-political sphere and will complicate the possibility of building our dialogue with the North Atlantic alliance, ”Zaitsev added.

This week, Pentagon chief Mark Esper announced that the US authorities will send an additional 1,000 US troops to Poland. At the moment, there are 4,500 American soldiers.

Senator Alexei Pushkov believes that Poland is being turned into a US military support in eastern Europe against Russia and he will not be surprised if American atomic bombs are deployed there after the serviceman.
