Socialist deputies will report on the decision of the Constitutional Court, which overturned the law on the functioning of languages, to the UN, the Council of Europe, and the Venice Commission. This was stated by the vice-chairman of the parliament, deputy of the PSRM Vlad Batryncha and acting Minister of Justice Fadey Nagachevsky during a press conference.
“We return to the practices of the period of the captured state, when attempts were made to replace parliament with the Constitutional Court (CC). We state that the Constitutional Court has transformed into a political bat of individual parties, ”Batryncha said.
The PSRM deputy explained that the law on the functioning of languages, approved by the parliament late last year, was developed in accordance with the recommendations of international institutions.
“In 2018, the same Constitutional Court, in a different composition, declared the law on the functioning of languages unconstitutional. Since 2018, Moldova has been left without linguistic legislation. What parliament did was close the gaps that the Constitutional Court pointed out in 2018. A law developed in accordance with the recommendations of international institutions. This law guarantees fundamental rights of citizens, ”explained Batrynca.

“We will turn to international partners regarding the current situation and risks. Let’s turn to the UN, the Council of Europe. We are analyzing the appeal to the Venice Commission in order to clarify these things. In 2019, there was a decision of the Constitutional Court, which crossed all the red lines – history repeats itself, ”added Nagachevsky.
