The player of the Russian youth ice hockey team Matvey Michkov scored nine goals in four matches of the group stage of the junior world championship (World Cup), which secured himself the fifth place in the number of goals scored among Russians.

On May 2, Michkov was successful in the match against the Czech national team, which the Russians won with a score of 11: 1. In this meeting, the athlete scored three goals, writes “Sport-Express”. The match took place in the American Frisco, Texas, at the Comerica Center arena.

As a result, Michkov ranks fifth in the ranking in terms of the number of goals among Russians. Hockey player Evgeny Malkin has the same number of goals – he scored them in 12 matches. The leader among Russian hockey players is Alexander Ovechkin – he was able to score 23 goals in 14 meetings.

Also on Sunday, it was reported that Russian hockey players will meet with the team of Belarus in the quarterfinal match of the junior world championship, which is being held in the United States. In the final match in Group A, the national team of Belarus lost to the Canadians with a score of 2: 5 and took third place in the table.

The quarterfinals will take place on May 3 and on the night of May 4, the semi-finals will take place on the night of May 6. The game for the third place and the final – on the night of May 7.

Prior to that, on April 30, the Russian youth ice hockey team defeated Germany at the 2021 World Cup with a score of 6: 1.
