The issue of abolishing visa requirements for citizens of Russia and Mexico is being discussed. Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard announced this in an interview with Izvestia.
“Electronic permission to enter Mexico for Russians has existed for about 10 years. The Mexicans, for example, do not have such an opportunity, unlike the citizens of Russia. Russians can get permission to travel to Mexico very quickly and without problems. Both sides want the issue of creating a visa-free regime to be resolved. We’re going to do it. As soon as we know the final decision, we will inform it, ”the politician told Izvestia.
At the moment, you can get to Mexico City from the Russian Federation only through Istanbul. As the minister explained, Mexico did not close borders and did not restrict flights. However, their number has dropped significantly due to the pandemic.
“We did not plan to close the airports in Mexico and prohibit any airline from arriving in our country, be it commercial airlines or charter flights. For example, many charters fly from Russia to Mexico, primarily to Cancun. We will conduct a dialogue with companies to help them restore their usual operating mode, increase the number of flights as soon as possible, ”Ebrard emphasized.
In an interview with Izvestia, the minister also spoke about the prospects for the production of Sputnik V in Latin America, the attitude of Mexicans to Joe Biden’s policies and the course of the vaccination campaign in their country.
