Metropolitan of Yekaterinodar and Kuban, Chairman of the Supreme Church-wide Court of the Russian Orthodox Church Isidor, died due to complications caused by the coronavirus. This was announced on Saturday, August 8, by Bishop Savva of Zelenograd in his Telegram channel.
According to the Kuban Metropolitanate, the priest died “after a short and serious illness.” He was 79 years old.
Metropolitan Isidor of Yekaterinodar and Kuban (in the world Kirichenko Nikolai Vasilyevich) was born in 1941 in the Leningrad region. Studied at the Leningrad Theological Seminary, then at the Academy.
In 2001, he was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan, at the same time he was awarded the title “Yekaterinodar and Kuban”.
For activities for the good of the Church, he has many awards, including secular ones.
