The staff of the head of the US National Intelligence Agency, Avril Haynes, began to form a center for combating secret foreign influence on the internal political processes in the country. The newspaper Politico writes about it.
As the official representative of the head of the national intelligence apparatus noted, these measures are being taken “in the light of changing threats and in support of growing demands [американской] Politics and Congress ”of the United States. The so-called center for combating malicious foreign influence is going to be formed as soon as possible. He did not specify when exactly this structure can start working. Its budget has not been specified either.
The creation of the center was supposed to be adopted earlier in the USA by the legislation on appropriations for the needs of intelligence. It provided for the inclusion in the center of analysts from all American intelligence agencies. According to the legislation, the new structure should be engaged in bringing together all the information about the planned foreign operations to influence political life in the United States and the development of “proper assessments” for the country’s authorities.
