Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin congratulated Russian skiers Alexander Bolshunov and Yulia Stupak on their victories in the classic general start races held on Saturday, March 13, as part of the World Cup final in Engadine, Switzerland.

Congratulating Stupak on winning the women’s 10 km mass start, the minister stressed that the athlete returned to the Russian national team after the birth of her son, missing last season, but this did not affect her mood in any way and she again shows good results.

He recalled that this season the skier became the second in the overall standings of the prestigious Tour de Ski race, and also took second place in the relay at the World Championship.

“I am sure that in future races we will see Yulia Stupak on the podium more than once,” added the Minister of Sports.

Bolshunov became the first in the classic style 15 km race at the World Cup in the Engadine. The Russian athlete came to the finish line with a time of 34 minutes 7.1 seconds.

The second place was taken by the Norwegian Johannes Klebo (+18.4 seconds), the third came another representative of Norway – Paul Golberg (+18.9).

Stupak won the 10 km mass start in the classic style at the World Cup final. The athlete ran the distance in 25 minutes 13.3 seconds. The second place was taken by the Norwegian Heidi Veng, the gap from the Russian was 7.1 seconds, and the third came from the representative of Sweden Ebba Andersson (+8.5).
