The nationwide 7-day incidence rose to 129.7. Currently, 3390 patients are undergoing intensive care. More than 8.6 million people in Germany have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
Since the start of the pandemic, 2,772,401 cases of the virus have been identified in Germany. This means that the number of cases increased by 3442 cases compared to Sunday a week ago. In total, 75,870 people have died as a result of the Covid-19 disease since the start of the pandemic.
The seven-day incidence for Germany is 129.7. This figure shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants of the country have been infected in the past seven days. The recommended incidence rate is 50. However, these numbers are not scientifically calculated optimal indicators, but rather benchmarks. They are essential for the effective operation of local health authorities. Up to 50 cases, the epidemiological situation is under control; the chain of infection of the infected can be traced.
The number of active cases, that is, people who are currently infected, is estimated at about 212,000. This number is obtained by subtracting the number of deaths (75.870) and the number of those who recovered (2.484.600) from all those ever infected (2.772.401).
