Presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for May 22 in Palestine have been postponed indefinitely. This was announced by the chairman of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Mahmoud Abbas, reports the agency WAFA.
According to him, the reason for the postponement is the refusal of the Israeli authorities to allow elections to the governing bodies of Palestine in East Jerusalem.
“Because of Israel’s refusal to allow elections in the city of Jerusalem, the Palestinian leadership has decided to postpone the May 22 elections,” Abbas said.
In addition, a government of national unity will be formed in Palestine, which will recognize all international agreements signed by the Palestine Liberation Organization.
