A catastrophe will happen in Belarus if the demographic problem is not resolved, while the population should grow to 20 million people. This was announced on Thursday, December 31, by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko, part of his speech was published by the Telegram channel “Pool of the First”.
“The biggest problem in the country is demographic. Therefore, everything is for children, and maternity capital has been extended, and apartments. It will be a disaster if we do not add to the population, ”Lukashenka said.
He noted that the population in Belarus is not enough, so they often say that the country is small.
“What is 9.5 or 10 million? This is nothing. At the first stage, we have 15 million, and reach 20 million. Then we will be like Europe in terms of population density, ”Lukashenka added.
He noted that it is not planned to reduce the benefits on the issue of children. According to the Belarusian leader, the authorities did not speak about “removing, reducing maternity leave”.
Earlier that day, the Belarusian leader called himself on duty in the country for the New Year. He stressed that he is a non-drinker and will spend New Year’s Eve “as usual.”
