The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported that the republic has asked the UN to provide humanitarian aid. The victims of the military conflict with Tajikistan, which lasted from April 28 to May 1, need it.

The request was conveyed by the Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN, Mirgul Moldoisaeva. She spoke with UN Deputy Secretary General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo. In particular, it is necessary to help several tens of thousands of evacuees from the conflict zone and restore their homes, which were destroyed during the clash with Tadijkistan. DiCarlo expressed the UN’s readiness to consider issues of humanitarian assistance.

Recall that the four-day war began with the installation of a camera by Tajiks on the controversial water utility. As a result, the sides first began to throw stones at each other, then mortars were used. The situation was complicated by the fact that there is no border in the conflict zone between the two states, and both sides consider the land their own.

During the four-day conflict, more than 180 people were injured from the Kyrgyz side, 36 were killed. Only three soldiers were killed. Over 60 thousand people became internally displaced persons.
