Russia ranks first in the quality of education in primary schools, said on Wednesday, April 7, the Minister of Education of Russia Sergei Kravtsov during a press conference “How the quality of education in Russia has changed.”
“The Russian Federation already has the best results – the first place in the international research“ Pirs ”- quality [образования] in primary school. This is the first integrated indicator that characterizes the entry of the Russian Federation into the top ten countries in terms of the quality of education. We are already the first in the world in elementary school, ”the head of the department said.
He also drew attention to the fact that Russia boasts one of the strongest math schools in the world, according to Teams math research.
“This is a study of the quality of mathematics education in the fourth and eighth grades. RF also shows good results here. Russia is in the top five schools in the world. We have a fairly strong school of mathematics, ”said Kravtsov.
The Minister of Education pointed out that such indicators were made possible thanks to painstaking work with Russian schools, especially with lagging ones.
“Why do we conduct OGE and all-Russian verification work? Precisely in order to identify those schools that need methodological support. Today, 15% of schools in 2020 and 2021 have helped point-wise within the framework of the national project in order to eliminate the deficits that schoolchildren have, ”he said.
The head of the Ministry of Education promised that the department would continue to improve the quality of school education in Russia.
“We will continue to improve educational methods, create a unified educational space so that every student receives a high-quality, systematic, fundamental education, regardless of where he studies,” summed up Kravtsov.
On March 16, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova announced that by 2025 more than 1 million new places for students will appear in Russian schools as part of the Education national project.
On March 4, the Ministry of Education assessed the situation with the introduction of six-day training in a number of Russian regions.
As the department assured, this was a forced measure to help students fill the gaps in education due to restrictions amid the spread of the coronavirus. At the same time, the ministry indicated that the transfer to a five-day or six-day period is within the competence of the schools themselves.
