The adoption of additional measures to monitor compliance with the silence regime in Donbass will be an important step towards establishing peace. This was announced on the air of the Dom TV channel by the head of the Kiev delegation to the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass, Leonid Kravchuk.
According to him, at the last meeting of the subgroup in the Trilateral Contact Group (TGC), held on April 20, the Ukrainian document, proposals from certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as Russian proposals were accepted for discussion. The document from Kiev, according to Kravchuk, was adopted as a basis, now it is being improved.
“This is the first time. And even the head of the TCG, the ambassador from the OSCE said that this is a historic event, ”he said.
Kravchuk also noted that if a general positive conclusion is adopted, the document will be discussed at a meeting on April 28.
On April 23, Kravchuk said that if Russia refuses to participate in the negotiations in the Minsk and Normandy formats, it will be possible to talk about the severance of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
On April 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy invited Russian leader Vladimir Putin to meet anywhere in Donbass. To which Putin said that the primary tasks of the Ukrainian leadership should be meetings with the leadership of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic. At the same time, he noted that he was ready to receive the Ukrainian leader in Moscow to discuss bilateral relations.
Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated in 2014 after the return of Crimea to Russia and against the background of the situation in Donbass. The Ukrainian authorities have previously repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in the country’s internal affairs.
Russia denies the accusations of the Ukrainian side and calls them unacceptable. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and is interested in Kiev overcoming the political and economic crisis.
