The government of the Khabarovsk Territory and large regional retail chains have signed an agreement, according to which retailers undertake to curb the rise in prices for certain categories of goods. This was done taking into account the instructions of President Vladimir Putin.

Some chains will impose marginal trade markups of no more than 10% on a selected list of products. And some will set fixed prices at the lowest possible level, writes IA AmurMedia with reference to the regional government.

According to First Deputy Prime Minister Maria Avilova, this agreement is an additional burden that business will undertake in terms of maintaining stable prices for basic socially significant goods.

A trade markup of no more than 10% will be set for such popular products as bread, flour, milk, black tea, vegetables and fruits. For the convenience of buyers, the goods will be marked with a logo, stickers or colored price tags.

On December 22, it was reported that the State Duma of Russia in the second reading adopted a bill on the right of the government of the Russian Federation to independently decide on the regulation of food prices. The third reading will take place today, December 23.
