The SMM edition of Izvestia MIC has prepared a timeline for the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident: https://chernobyl.iz.ru

A special project dedicated to one of the largest disasters in the field of nuclear energy on Earth, presents the chronology of events and the scale of the Chernobyl accident. The team of the Izvestia SMM-editorial office made an emphasis on the timeline, the exact chronology of events, for a high-quality and detailed story about all the facts of that terrible catastrophe. It happened 35 years ago, and today Izvestia remembers how it was.

The project, with an accuracy of the minute, tells in detail the important points: how the tests were carried out, their beginning, the actions taken by the station workers. In addition, the timeline describes in great detail all the events that occurred a few hours before the error, as well as the dire consequences of the entire disaster. For a complete immersion in the atmosphere of 1986, Izvestia prepared not only photo and audio materials, but also video recordings, in which you can see the very explosion that entailed a huge tragedy. The draft also mentions the approximate timeframe for further elimination of the disaster until 2065.

Exactly 35 years ago, on April 26, 1986, the largest accident in the history of nuclear power in the USSR occurred, the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. One employee of the station died on the spot, another 30 – in the next three months from the effects of the explosion and radiation sickness. The number of deaths from the effects of radioactive contamination is in the thousands, and they are still counted.
