The Army-2020 International Military-Technical Forum and the Final of the International Army Games will solemnly open on August 23 in the Patriot Park near Moscow. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is expected to take part in the opening ceremony, who will hold a series of talks with the heads of the military delegations who came to the forum.
This year, for the first time, the Army Games are being held simultaneously with the Army-2020 International Military-Technical Competition. The forum will be attended by 1.5 thousand domestic and foreign organizations and enterprises, which will present more than 28 thousand exhibits. Almost 700 units of military equipment and weapons will take part in the statistical and dynamic demonstrations. Forum participants will present a number of new products in various fields, from small arms and armored vehicles to unmanned aerial vehicles.
Within the framework of the forum, large-scale cultural and entertainment events are planned, as well as scientific, business and exhibition programs. Delegations from 92 countries are expected to participate, 18 delegations will be headed by ministers and deputy defense ministers.
156 teams from 32 countries will take part in the Army Games. The teams will compete within 30 contests, which will be held in five countries: Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
This year, within the framework of the games, two new competitions will be presented: a competition of military topographers “Reliable landmark” and overcoming a complex obstacle course with the implementation of firing tasks. The oldest and most popular game competition, the Tank Biathlon competition, with the participation of teams from 16 countries, will traditionally be held at the Alabino training ground near Moscow.
