Infectious disease doctor Sergei Voznesensky named the symptoms that are often mistaken for manifestations of coronavirus infection, but they are false. He told about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.
According to the specialist, a certain acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI) is characterized by the defeat of one part of the respiratory system, while with coronavirus, the nasal cavity and lungs are most often affected.
“Nevertheless, and sore throat, and perspiration, and cough with damage to the larynx, trachea can also occur,” – said the doctor.
The second syndrome that occurs with ARVI is intoxication, the doctor noted. So, headache, body aches, fever – any infection can accompany.
With coronavirus, the manifestations of intoxication syndrome will be almost the same. Therefore, in this case, laboratory tests are necessary.
The specialist added that people with increased anxiety often tend to think that they have a corronavirus. They can feel the symptoms of COVID-19 and still be perfectly healthy.
Earlier in January, doctors identified signs of infection with the “British” strain of the coronavirus. In particular, patients who have been diagnosed with a “British” strain of coronavirus are less likely to complain of loss of taste and smell. However, coughs, sore throat, fatigue, muscle cramps, and fever are more common among them.
