India and Russia do not plan to reduce the number of flights between Moscow and New Delhi. This was announced on Thursday, April 29, by the republic’s ambassador to the Russian Federation Bala Venkatesh Varma.

“Currently there are plans to restrict air traffic [из-за эпидемической ситуации в Индии] no, ”he said during the briefing.

Currently, a worsening situation with the spread of coronavirus infection is recorded in India. Over the past day, the country has set a new world anti-record – almost 380 thousand new cases in one day. High numbers and density of the country’s population contribute to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, as a result of which more than 200 thousand people have died in India.

In addition, a large burden due to the difficult epidemiological situation fell on the staff of the crematoria, who do not have enough space for incineration of corpses. Bonfires are burning around the clock in city parks and car parks.

On the morning of April 29, the second plane of the Russian Emergencies Ministry with a cargo of humanitarian aid landed in India. The first plane with humanitarian aid from Russia arrived in India on the evening of April 28.

Russia has sent to India the most essential materials, which the country is critically lacking – high-tech equipment, including ventilators, medicines and medical oxygen.

According to the latest data from the Indian Ministry of Health, more than 18 million cases of coronavirus have been registered in the country. About 15 million people recovered, 204 thousand people died from coronavirus and related diseases.

Most cases in India are observed in the state of Maharashtra. Over the past day, more than 63.3 thousand cases were identified there. This is followed by Karnataka (39,047), Kerala (35,013), Uttar Pradesh (29,751) and Delhi (25,986).
