Residents of Venev, Tula Region, took up the improvement of the city pond. A local priest and photographer Denis Vorsobin wrote about this on his VKontakte page.
“Recently, the dying and drying up pond has become the main topic of conversation for the townspeople. It seemed that since it always existed, it will continue to be so, but no. The pond began to swamp “, – says Vorsobin.
However, a group of Venev activists took the initiative into their own hands: they restored the tributaries, cleared the banks of thickets and debris that had been accumulating for decades.
“Subbotniks were held all summer, every Saturday. And today this pond has become a meeting place for most of the townspeople. Parents with children, adolescents and adult uncles took up hockey sticks to take part in the winter games “, – says Denis Vorsobin. He captured this holiday in photographs.
“Everyone, young and old, found entertainment for himself. We rode on cheesecakes, threw felt boots, played hockey, pulled a rope, ate fish soup. I really want this tradition to receive proper coverage and support. After all, thanks to this event, we saw that the pond was not indifferent to the townspeople. In the spring the pond will be filled with water and will welcome people again ”, – the local priest shares his joy.
