The US authorities allowed citizens to take walks without masks, regardless of the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. The corresponding recommendations were published on the website of the US Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on April 27.
It is clarified that it is allowed to “walk, ride a bike, go jogging” without wearing a protective mask, regardless of the presence of a coronavirus vaccine. At the same time, it is indicated that citizens who have been vaccinated are allowed not to wear masks when visiting the open verandas of cafes and restaurants.
Those who have not yet been vaccinated may not wear masks if the people around the company are vaccinated; in other cases, protection is recommended not to be neglected.
At mass events – concerts, parades or outdoor sports tournaments – masks are recommended, while indoors they are still required.
According to the CDC, more than 42.5% of Americans (over 140.9 million people) received at least one dose of the drug from the coronavirus, about 28.9% – 95.8 million people – were fully vaccinated.
According to The New York Times, which cites data from the Center for Disease Control and Dissemination (CDC), almost 8% of US citizens (more than 5 million people) who were vaccinated with the first dose of Pfizer or Moderna drugs refused the second injection.
Some patients are afraid of possible side effects, while others believe that one injection is enough to develop long-term sustained immunity to COVID-19. Sometimes, the newspaper specifies, the vaccination centers themselves canceled the registration for the second vaccination, as they ran out of the necessary drugs.
Three COVID-19 vaccines are registered in the United States: one from Pfizer / BioNTech and two from American companies Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
Meanwhile, according to Johns Hopkins University, more than 32.1 million cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in the United States since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, over 572.8 thousand people have died. According to these indicators, the country still occupies a leading position in the world.
