As a result of the vote of the residents of Stavropol, which was announced by the regional authorities, December 31 this year became a day off. This was announced on Thursday, December 3, by the governor of the region, Vladimir Vladimirov.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the voting on the possibility of declaring December 31, 2020 a non-working day. There were a lot of voices and just comments. As in the previous year, the absolute majority – for the day off. So be it, ”he wrote.

Vladimirov noted that the authorities will turn to employers in organizations of all forms of ownership of the region with a corresponding proposal, and also added that after the signing and publication of the necessary legal act, which he had already instructed to prepare, the last Thursday of 2020 in the Stavropol Territory will officially become a day off.

Earlier on this day, the authorities of Crimea and the Kursk region decided to make December 31 a non-working day for civil servants. In Crimea, the working day has been moved to Saturday, December 26.

On the eve of the Belgorod region became the first region of Russia, where the forthcoming December 31 was made a day off. The corresponding order was signed by Acting Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

On the same day, a member of the Public Chamber, the head of Sober Russia, Sultan Khamzaev, asked the heads of regions to personally declare December 31 a day off. In his opinion, an official day off, which will allow Russians to spend this day with their families, will make them calmer and happier.

Yaroslav Nilov, chairman of the State Duma committee on labor, social policy and affairs of veterans, also told Izvestia on Wednesday that the heads of the Russian regions should declare December 31 a day off.

In November, the State Duma rejected a bill that proposed making December 31 a day off.
