Law enforcement agencies in the Stavropol Territory detained VAZ driver Maxim Larionov, who provoked a fatal accident with children, as well as bus driver Ruslan Nakhmetov, who was transporting a children’s basketball team. This was announced on Saturday, May 1, at the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

“The investigating authorities in accordance with Art. 91, 92 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, a bus driver was detained. The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved, ”the message says.

The department noted that in relation to the transport company, which provided passenger services that do not meet the requirements of life and health safety, investigative actions are being carried out: documents are seized, and management and employees are interrogated.

“A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of corpus delicti under Part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence), part 3 of Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life and health of consumers, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence), ”the RF IC concluded.

Earlier that day, it became known that the authorities of the Volgograd region will send 1 million rubles each to the families of the children who died and 200 thousand rubles each to the relatives of minors injured in the accident in the Stavropol Territory. The head of the region, Andrei Bocharov, added that the relatives of the children are provided with comprehensive psychological and social assistance.

On May 1, Bocharov declared May 3 a day of mourning for the children who died in an accident in the Stavropol Territory. In addition, the governor instructed the profile committee, together with the administration of the city of Volgograd, to check the legality of organizing the departure of children to competitions and submit the results of the check for further decision.

The accident happened on April 30 in the area of ​​the village of Yamka. The regional Ministry of Internal Affairs said that as a result of an accident, five minors were killed. The department clarified that there were 17 people in the minibus, including 14 children. The deaths of six children were initially reported.

The preliminary cause of the accident in the traffic police of Russia was called a violation of traffic rules by a passenger car.
