In the Smolensk region, a drug addict was caught with “powder”

In Desnogorsk, police officers learned that one of the local residents, a 27-year-old young man, was keeping drugs and decided to check the information received. The young man was detained on one of the streets of the city and examined. During the search, the guy was found to have a package with an unknown substance, which was sent for examination to the forensic center of the Russian MIA Administration for the Smolensk Region.

Experts examined the powder and concluded that it was mephedrone. The police took the suspect to the department for investigation, where the young man said that he kept the drug for personal needs and did not plan to sell it.

“At present, the investigators of the police department No. 1 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Smolensk have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal possession of narcotic drugs),” said the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Smolensk Region. A young drug addict faces up to 3 years in prison.
