The Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov declared January 31 a day of mourning for those killed in an accident with a bus and a truck on Friday, January 29. This was announced on Saturday, January 30, at the press service of the regional government.
As specified, the head of the region himself visited the hospital in Syzran, where the victims were hospitalized.
Azarov also promised to provide the necessary assistance to the families of citizens who died in an accident.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the psychologists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation were sent to the Samara region to help the relatives of those killed in the accident. Also, psychological assistance is provided in the Syzran central city hospital.
12 people became victims of the incident. REN TV has published a list of the names of eight victims, the identity of four more people is to be established.
On the same day, it became known about the condition of people who were injured in the accident. 10 injured were taken to Syzran hospital. The condition of two is of moderate severity, the rest are in serious condition.
The accident occurred on January 29 at 18:20 Moscow time on the 873rd km of the federal highway M-5 “Ural” near the village of Zaborovka, Syzran region. A DAF truck, a passenger car and a Citroen passenger van collided.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the cause of the accident could have been a truck driver’s mistake, who skidded the trailer and drove into the oncoming lane.
