The evidence collected by military investigators was enough for the court to convict the commander of military unit 38643, Colonel Kirill Nikulin, his deputy lieutenant colonel Vitaly Nekrasov, and the deputy commander of the air assault battalion, Major Alexander Kaunov.
According to the press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the SF, the accused from August 2017 to December 2018 falsified documents on the accrual of cash allowances for themselves and for 13 more servicemen. Nikulin, using his powers, introduced false information into the documents – he set himself and his subordinates undeserved bonuses for special conditions of military service, for allegedly fulfilling the parachute jumping norm, for class qualifications. As a result, the fraudsters illegally received almost 2 million rubles from the state.
True, even during the investigation, Nikulin and his accomplices repented and fully compensated for the damage, but they did not get away from punishment. The Zaozersk Garrison Court sentenced him to 5 years of suspended imprisonment with a fine of 100 thousand rubles, as well as deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the implementation of organizational and administrative or administrative and economic functions, for a period of 4 years.
Nekrasova and Kaunova, taking into account their confession and active cooperation with the investigation, were fined 180 and 200 thousand rubles, respectively.
