The authorities of the Belogorsk region of the Republic of Crimea have introduced a technogenic emergency at the municipal level. The decision was made in connection with a fatal road accident that occurred on the morning of July 31 on the Kerch-Simferopol highway near Belogorsk.

According to the district administration, the emergency mode operates for the forces and means of the district level of the territorial subsystem of the unified state system for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations. It will last until further notice, writes IA “Kryminform”.

The accident happened on the morning of July 31 at the Tavrida section from Belogorsk to Simferopol. Minibus Mercedes Sprinter, delivering people to the place of rest, crashed into a standing KamAZ truck with a trailer.

As a result of the accident, according to the latest data, nine people died, ten were injured and are in medical institutions in the region.

According to preliminary information, which was provided by the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the driver of the minibus could fall asleep while driving and made a collision with the truck.

The Investigative Committee opened two criminal cases. The first according to part 5 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles”). The second under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers”).
