At least 20 people were killed and more than 30 were injured after a freight train rammed a bus at a railroad crossing in northeast Thailand. This was reported on October 11 by the Post Today agency, citing a statement from the Chachoengsao Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office.
There were 60 passengers on the bus, it followed from Samut Prakan province to one of the Chachoengsao temples. According to preliminary information, these are workers of one of the factories of Samut Prakan.
The department also clarified that the accident occurred at about 08:00 local time (04:00 Moscow time).
The bus driver, despite a working semaphore, tried to pass the crossing in front of an approaching train. At the same time, there was no barrier in front of the railway tracks. The victims of the collision were hospitalized, and the relatives of the victims will receive psychological assistance.
At the moment, law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
