Over the past day, 8 803 new cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Russia, the operational headquarters for combating the disease reported on Monday, April 26.
Earlier, on April 25, the director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, admitted that the coronavirus pandemic in Russia would end in November.
In turn, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Tatyana Golikova said that the end of the pandemic will occur when collective immunity is achieved in the country.
On April 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the announcement of the annual message to the Federal Assembly, called on Russians to get vaccinated against COVID-19. He also pointed out that all citizens should have the opportunity to get vaccinated so that collective immunity from coronavirus is formed in the fall.
Large-scale vaccination of the population against coronavirus infection started in Russia on January 18. The vaccination is given free of charge to everyone.
