In the Bavarian region of Rottal-Inn, the infection rate per 100,000 people in the last week was 260.1. A ten-day lockdown has been introduced in the region since October 27. However, in the city of Baesweiler, near Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia, the infection rate in the last week exceeded the acceptable limit of 50 cases per 100,000 population per week by more than 11 times.
On Monday, the health department of the city near Aachen reported 554 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants during the week. On Friday, the infection rate for the week in Baesweiler balanced at around 328. The city, which has about 27,000 people, has been severely restricted. Local Muslim communities suspend Friday prayers until at least October 31st. The city administration said that the voluntary temporary refusal of Muslim believers is an important contribution to the fight against the pandemic.
The representative of the regional administration said that the number of infected in Baesweiler, equal to 554, is a measure of statistical data. There are currently 144 people in the city suffering from Covid-19. In total, in the region, to which, in addition to Aachen, nine other municipalities belong, for the week on Monday, 199 new cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants became known.
