In Moscow, as part of a traffic police raid to eliminate incorrect tinting, which took place from 19 to 28 April, more than 17 thousand motorists were brought to justice. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate.
It is noted that with respect to 196 drivers, administrative materials were drawn up under article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “disobedience to a lawful order or request of a police officer.”
According to state standards, the front side windows of a car must have a light transmission of at least 70%, and a windshield of at least 75%. In this case, toning of the front side and windshield is prohibited.
According to the traffic police, tinting in a car reduces visibility to the driver. If the car windows are not tinted, the driver can see a pedestrian on the road at a distance of at least 100 m. In turn, tinted auto windows reduce this distance to 35–70 m.
According to the current legislation, for driving a car with tinted windows, the light transmission of which does not meet the requirements, a fine of 500 rubles is imposed.
