The governor of the American state of Idaho, Brad Little, signed a law banning abortion after the fetus began to hear a heartbeat. This was announced on April 27 by the governor’s office.

It is noted that we are talking about the fifth to sixth week of pregnancy. Exceptions are medical indications or pregnancy resulting from rape or incest.

For violation of the law, licensed doctors face a prison sentence of two to five years.

“The State of Idaho values the most innocent life of all — the life of babies. We must never slacken our efforts to protect newborns’ lives. Hundreds and hundreds of babies die every year in Idaho due to abortion, which is an absolute tragedy, ”said Little.

The issue of abortion is one of the most acute in the United States. Conservative states regularly try to tighten the conditions for the procedure.

In the summer of 2020, the US Supreme Court ruled that Louisiana’s law restricting the number of doctors allowed to perform abortion was illegitimate.

A year earlier, a federal court in Alabama blocked a law that almost completely banned abortion on any testimony.
