Hungary to start importing Russian coronavirus vaccine in December

Hungary will begin importing a small volume of Russian coronavirus vaccine in December 2020 for research and licensing purposes. This was announced on Thursday, November 5, by Reuters, citing Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto.

According to him, the Russian side announced that it could start large deliveries from the second or third week of January.

Siyjarto added that Hungary is going to increase the purchase of the Russian vaccine from January 2021. One of the Hungarian companies also intends to start producing a Russian vaccine, the minister said.

The world’s first vaccine against coronavirus was registered on August 11 in Russia. The drug was developed by specialists from the Gamaleya Center and was named “Sputnik V”.

On October 1, it was reported that clinical trials of the Russian vaccine began in Belarus.

On November 2, Argentinean President Alberto Fernandez announced that at the end of December Russia would supply 10 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine, and another 15 million in January.

On November 4, during a conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, they noted the importance of the agreement on the supply of Russian vaccine against coronavirus to Belarus.
