Fashion store Zalando earned significantly more in the second quarter than in the previous year. Net income rose from 45.5 million to 122.6 million euros, the company said on Tuesday in Berlin. Adjusted operating result (EBIT) more than doubled to € 211.9 million.
Due to the corona pandemic Zalando, as Europe’s leading online platform, has received significantly more online orders from customers. As a result, sales increased by 27.4% to 2 millionyards euro.
The company’s forecasts for a significant increase in sales and EBIT in the second quarter of 2020 are fully confirmed so far. The growth was driven by changing consumer behavior, in particular the sharply increasing preference for digital offerings, as well as the ongoing implementation of the platform’s strategy, including the accelerated expansion of the Zalando partner program.
