“Our hut is on fire” – under this motto the restaurateurs of Bavaria staged an action, turning on the lights in their establishments tonight. With this step, they tried to draw attention to the catastrophic situation that arose due to the coronavirus pandemic. The restaurant owners have responded to a call from the Association for the Conservation of Bavarian Culture (VEBWK) to leave lights on in their establishments from Thursday to Friday.
Thus, the association recalls that there are thousands of jobs at stake, and require catering establishments to open no later than March 1, subject to the rules of quarantine and minimum distance. “The catering industry is on the edge,” says Ursula Zimmermann, Managing Director of VEBWK. Many restaurateurs are already seriously considering closing their businesses.
