German experts say people under 60 should not receive a second dose of coronavirus vaccine from AstraZeneca, – reports agency Reuters…
In particular, the German Vaccine Commission (STIKO) recommended using a different COVID vaccine when re-vaccinating such people.
“Until data is available, STIKO recommends that people under the age of 60 instead of the second dose of AstraZeneca receive a dose of mRNA vaccine 12 weeks after the first vaccine,” the commission said in a statement.
RNA (mRNA) vaccines include those given by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
Germany previously stated that the AstraZeneca vaccine should only be given to people aged 60 and over due to the rare but serious side effects of thromboembolism.
