Despite the steadily increasing morbidity rate, Saxony-Anhalt has no plans to introduce an “emergency brake”, which would mean a return to a strict quarantine regime. The authorities want to stay at the stage of easing restrictive measures, which was introduced in early March.

The number of infected is growing, but the situation is under control. The chains of the infected can be traced, the situation in the hospitals is satisfactory. As long as the process can be controlled, relaxation of restrictions is justified, said Prime Minister Rainer Haseloff after a conference with the Cabinet. However, the next steps to exit quarantine, scheduled for late March, are likely to be postponed for now.
