It is not at all easy for parents to choose toothpaste for a baby 2-6 years old. Because the quality of children’s toothpaste practically does not depend on the price. As carefully as a woman chooses natural cosmetics for herself, carefully reading its contents, you should carefully read everything that is written on the packaging of children’s toothpaste in order to find important differences.
The specialists of the Öko-Test Foundation analyzed 35 toothpastes for children under 6 years old. It turned out that the highest rating “sehr gut” (“very good”) was given to 15 toothpastes. Pay attention: none of them belong to natural cosmetics products, and some of them are the cheapest: at a price of 60 cents per 100 ml. Another 10 titles were rated “gut” (“good”). Three pastes did not pass the Öko-Test: two pastes from the Oral-B brand were rated “ungenügende” (“insufficient”) due to the presence of increased concentrations of cbzntnbxtcrjuj polymer Carbomer; a paste from Blend-A-Med with even more of this synthetic polymer was rated “Mangelhafte” (“not satisfactory”). The rest are rated as mediocre.
Attention was also paid to the content of beneficial ingredients, such as, for example, fluorite. It is important not only the presence of this component in the composition of the paste, but it is equally important that this be stated in the product description.
Öko-Test analyzed children’s toothpastes for the presence of organic halogen compounds, many of which are considered allergenic and accumulate in the environment. These are elements such as toxic antimony or aluminum, as well as parabens (esters of para-hydroxybenzoic acid), which are widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries due to their antiseptic and fungicidal properties. Another analysis was made for the presence of environmentally harmful chlorinated compounds in the packaging. In their opinion, the specialists of the Öko-Test Foundation recorded the presence or absence of skin-irritating surfactants such as sodium laurisulfate, PEG / PEG derivatives that can make the skin more permeable to foreign bodies, as well as the above synthetic polymers for reasons environmental protection. All this, including dosages and age criteria, should be indicated on the package.
Considering the above, the best children’s toothpastes for children from 0 to 6 years old turned out to be Bevola Dental Kids Zahngel and Dentalux Zahngel For Kids Bubblegun (at a price of 0.30 euros for every 50 ml); for children from 2 to 3 years old – Eurodont Baby Zahncreme Himbeergeschmack (at the same price): for children from 3 to 6 years old – Eurodont Kinder Zahncreme Bubblegum (at a price of 0.30 euros for every 50 ml).
