Opponents of the crown policy plan to take to the streets of Berlin again on 29 August. A police spokesman said Thursday that 17,000 participants were registered for the demonstration under the slogan “Versammlung für die Freiheit”. At the subsequent rally, organized by the “Quer Thinking 711” initiative from Stuttgart, a total of 22,500 participants are expected.
Last Saturday, 20,000 people attended a similar rally against restrictive measures in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. During the demonstration, the safety requirements were deliberately ignored: the minimum distance was not observed, almost none of the participants used mouth and nose protection. In addition to corona deniers and vaccine opponents, there were many participants with clearly right-wing extremist views in the crowd.
Berlin has already banned a rally by conspiracy theorist Attila Hildmann twice. famous vegan chef in Germany, as he is under investigation, where, among other things, he is charged with incitement, threats and anti-Semitism. In addition, participants in previous demonstrations have repeatedly ignored distancing requirements and wearing mouth and nose protection.
