Employees of the Federal Security Service (FSB) detained in the Kaliningrad region a Russian who was preparing an explosion at an energy facility. This was announced on March 4 by the press service of the FSB.
“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation prevented a terrorist attack at a power plant in the Kaliningrad region. A Russian citizen was detained who planned to commit it out of hatred of the current government, as well as recruited residents of the region to participate in terrorist activities, ”the report says.
During the searches in the house of the detainee, an improvised explosive device, instructions and components for synthesizing explosives, as well as materials “offensive in relation to the Russian executive and legislative bodies” were found.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee. The issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
At the same time, it is not specified whether the man was a member of any banned organization. At the same time, the detainee said that he was a “suicide bomber”, writes Gazeta.ru.
The FSB also published a video of the arrest of a suspect in the preparation of a terrorist attack.
The footage shows how law enforcement officers break into the house of a suspect, who is found lying in bed, and detains him. They also confiscate an improvised bomb, instructions for its manufacture and components for synthesizing explosives.
Earlier, on March 3, it became known that the Southern District Military Court sentenced a resident of Crimea Oleg Prikhodko to five years in prison in the case of preparing a terrorist attack on the peninsula. The man was detained by FSB officers in the city of Saki. He was preparing an explosion in one of the administrative buildings of the Crimea. An improvised explosive device, components and tools for making explosives, and Molotov cocktails were found in his garage.
